in collaboration with Laura Moro and T(H) EMIGRA ensemble live streamed from Shindy Club, Bassano.
The Performances of ART(H)EMIGRA SATELLITE are dance and music improvisation performances taking place on the same dates and at the same time at Shindy, Bassano del Grappa, and OT301, Amsterdam.
The initiative starts on the bases of a collaboration between the Italian music and dance collective T(H)EMIGRA ENSEMBLE and its founding member and Art. Dir. Laura Moro with
Manuela Tessi, Italian dancer resident in Amsterdam.
In each one of the performances a group of selected professional dancers – choreographers and musicians from or by T(H)EMIGRA ENSEMBLE or in any case part of the Italian improvisation circuit and a pool of performers from the improvisation scene in Amsterdam will create an event of dance and music in which the two are composed in real time. The event will be divided into sets, with the presence of a camera filming each set in in both locations, and then transmitting it to each other through a skype connection. Performers and audience will then watch each other’s sets alternatively.
The artists will have then both roles of viewer and performer, the skype transmission allowing the two groups to influence each other, collaborating at distance.
Shindy is originally a Club, famous in the late seventies and eighties, for cult and new music, located in a beautiful valley, in Bassano Del Grappa (VI).
OT301 is an independent platform for cultural and social disciplines. The building, formerly the Amsterdam Filmacademy, is a place that emphasize the connection between local and international activities.
OT301 has been awarded the Amsterdamprijs voor de Kunst in 2007 as a podium for international and interdisciplinary events.
The choice of these two venues is because they are both non conventional theatre spaces: the performance space is set up in such a way where public is in close proximity with the artists creating an intimate setting which is fundamental to the live event. The close distance between performers and audience allows interactivity: the presence of the audience influences the real time composition.
